    Anita Scott Coleman was an author who published poems, essays, and short stories. After her parents met in Texas, they moved to Sonora, Mexico where Coleman was eventually born. After her birth, her family moved to New Mexico where she was raised on a ranch.

    In Silver City she attended the New Mexico Teachers College and subsequently became a schoolteacher until , when she married printer and photographer James Harold Coleman. It was then that she began her writing career.
