Jon Bon Jovi's mother, Carol A. Bongiovi, died yesterday, July 9, at the Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey. She was 83.
Bon Jovi confirmed his mother's death in a statement, though no cause was given.
She died just three days before her 84th birthday.
"Our mother was a force to be reckoned with, her spirit and can-do attitude shaped this family," Bon Jovi said.

Bongiovi played an important role in fostering her son's musical ambitions. She's probably best known for launching the Bon Jovi fan club and running it out of the flower shop she ran in Woodbridge, New Jersey.
